Jihye's Story

Jihye has been teaching the Korean language for 10 years, teaching students from all backgrounds and ages both online and in person. She was born and raised in South Korea and immigrated to the United States after graduating from Kyung-Hee University in Seoul to earn her master’s degree in music at the California Institute of the Arts. She first found her passion for sharing Korean culture after moving to Michigan with her family. After discovering that many people did not know of the Korean culture, she made efforts to share her heritage with others around her, giving presentations at her children’s schools and widening her own children’s lens to the importance of their heritage. This experience led her to officially embark on her journey of sharing the Korean language and culture with not only people from other countries but also people of Korean origins who wanted to learn more. Jihye has continued to make spreading the Korean culture her priority, using her extensive knowledge of music and the language to help her. Jihye has worked at Pasadena Language School and online at TakeLessons with people from all around the world, from America to Taiwan, creating a lively and effective learning environment for all.
